Blizzard has mishandled professions so badly it's embarrassing

Professions could be a wonderful source of content. I remember before WoD when I would go back to the capital cities to learn the various skills. When I had to actually look at guides to figure out what to buy and what to make. When sometimes I couldn't find the mats on the AH so I had to venture into Outlands in order to farm them.

Sometimes it felt tedious, but they were something to do. Professions were very profitable (some of them) and they all had their various perks. However for some reason, Blizzard has neutered professions into t he ground. Inscription used to be a great marketable profession, I would spend 40 minutes on one cast time of inks. I would have ~200 unique glyphs on the AH at a time, but then they neutered inscription.

Jewelcrafting used to be useful, used to be.

Enchanting is still good, but who doesn't have enchanting now? Enchanting is so useful it doesn't even need its own perks, but yet everyone has it so enchanting isn't useful.

Leatherworking? I'm a druid, I used to go talk to LW in order to get my enchants, lol I can't even remember when I did that last.

If they thought leveling up was hard, they should've looked at the difficult levels and made those easier. All they did was ruin the lower level economies, because you don't need those mats, and made it so that professions are useless. It's awesome and immersive to have to go find a LW that can enhance my pants. I want to find a jewelcrafter (or buy one off the AH) for a couple pieces of my gear. There used to be several sockets on one piece of gear, and now I might have 2 total.

I just wish that they had some people looking at professions and finding ways to make them more fun and useful, instead of making them less fun and useful.

EDIT: Plus, they could incorporate old world stuff into their professions. Maybe you have to go visit a trainer in a major city, or there's a really good alchemist who only lives in the deepest recesses of the Jade Forest.
